+ Please keep Reading the Bio of Catherine Booth (you can find this by googling her name and also the book to the right entitled Catherine Booth)
• List your hopes and dreams for your family on a piece of paper
• Determine one goal for your family to be implemented this week
• Make a list of things your children do that are
negative. On the opposite side list what you want
them to do instead or how you want them to respond instead...we will talk about this at our next class
We read this quote below from the book,"Boundaries with Kids," by Dr. Henry Cloud. Think about this quote during the week and how it relates to you. Don't get depressed about it! But let it help you in your goals and plans for your family!
One of the most helpful questions parents can ask themselves when faced with a child’s problem is not,”Why won’t he stop hitting his brother?” but “What was my part in creating this problem?” This will be painful as it will require you looking at the plank in your eye rather than the speck of sawdust in your child’s. (Matt. 7:1-5)

good question to ask yourself! One of the things I don't want for my kids is for them to have an attitude (Bradley does this sometimes when he doesn't get what he wants). I want him to have a good attitude about things and what he does have...I try to talk to him and explain that he has to be happy for others (like in winning games, etc) and praise others' accomplishments out of love. Amy, on the other hand, can whine alot and sometimes I tune it out and that doesn't help the situation at all, teaching her nothing! just some examples...
I notice that in stores when kids are crying and obviously overtired and stuff now I think "Hmmm..." not in a judgmental way but -what part is the parent playing (if they are) in this problem? If maybe they have perhaps overestimated their child's ability to stroll or shop for hours on end, denying them naptime, routine or food in the process! Then expecting them to behave when really they are on their ear with fatique. Then I think about what I did or would've done to help the situation back in "my day!".
